When things go wrong, what do you do? Don’t panic! This lesson explains some of the common issues that come up, and how to solve them.

Potential Sources of Issue:

  1. Internet connection
  2. Other potential issues

Poor Internet Connection

Ensure you have good internet by following the steps below:

  1. Get a wired ethernet connection for internet (this is HIGHLY recommended so you won’t be impacted by wi-fi issues)
  2. Run a speed test on the internet at the venue–you want at minimum 1 Mbps upload and download speed. However, note that once the event begins, the traffic on the wi-fi network will likely be a lot higher and this can also impede the internet speed. This is why we highly recommend an ethernet connection.
  3. Use your cellphone as a mobile hotspot

Other potential issues:

Issue: The translation does not match the original text.

Solution: Confirm that the document is properly aligned (i.e. both the source and translation have the same number of lines).

Issue: The software feels like it’s slow.

Solution: Turn off browser extensions (such as Grammarly) that may interfere with the software.

Issue: The projector view is showing content that is different from what I am releasing in the Operator view.

Solution: Your projector view is likely out of date. Refresh the projector view so it has the latest content.

Issue: When my audience visits the /z shortcut, it’s pointing to the wrong session.

Solution: Read up on how to control which session the /z shortcut points to.
